That middle path has its own dangers. For those competing on price, high-end photographers like you are not their competition, but people like me ("hey, my buddy takes good pictures, I can ask him to bring his camera to the wedding") might be.
This reminds me a little bit of the family portrait photographers in pretty much every local Facebook group who get raving mad at anybody willing to take pictures for free (say to build a portfolio) ... "don't those "thieves" realize how much I paid for my camera!!!"

Despite every person on earth having a camera, there’s still a market for good photographers to do good work
I know everyone doesn’t want to run a business or even have a profitable side hustle but for those that do (my ideal target market) It can be achieved but it needs to be intentional
