I really enjoyed this! I worked as a postman in my twenties: walking anywhere between eight and fifteen miles a day, six days a week. It’s amazing how important socks are; and I have been a strong proponent of wearing two pairs for most of my life!
I now wear technical moisture-wicking socks with toes as a base layer when out walking, with natural-fibre socks – thicker wool ones in winter; thinner cotton ones in summer – over the top; and haven’t had a blister or sore feet for years. Good insoles also help; as does knowing your true shoe-size.
