Hey Chris, I like this video idea … and man, if this was 9 years ago and I was still living in Lawton I would definitely be hitting you up about your spring/summer calendar and potential second-shooter needs.
Good question indeed and I loved how you expanded on this. Shadowing someone, or being a second shooter would never cross my mind as something “lesser” of value. Every kind of photography is different and has different guidelines to follow. Especially in wedding photography, where there is so much at stake, and you can’t repeat anything if things go wrong, or on a contrary, get crazily better (weather change, dynamics shift, unexpected opportunities happen). I believe only with experience as yours one can say “I’ve seen it all”. But until then, one can still learn, experience a lot of variable outcomes and polish one’s spectrum of skills. What a privilege that is!
And yes… the cake… I have never done a wedding but I cover corporate events on my own and luckily I have a wonderful organizer who runs after me and feeds me canapés, because I don’t have time to sit down for lunch 😃😉📸. Having a second shooter or being one wouldn’t hurt a bit!
